As part of an ongoing effort to simplify the management of IT, ManageEngine has inked a technology alliance with Riverbed Technology.
Under the terms of the alliance, solution providers should find it easier to manage Steelhead wide area network (WAN) optimization appliances using ManageEngine’s Netflow Analyzer software running on a dedicated server.
ManageEngine, which claims to now have over 4,000 customers for its systems management software, is a unit of Zoho Corp., a provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications that compete with offerings from Google and Microsoft. ManageEngine has leveraged its experience in providing systems management tools for Zoho to create a set of integrated systems management tools that are easy to use.
ManageEngine also has a unique business model in that there are no fees associated with any upgrades. Once a customer purchases a license, they get access to all future upgrades.
As more enterprise applications rely on WANs to extend their reach over the Internet, optimizing WAN performance has become a major focal point, especially when it comes to server consolidation, virtualization and disaster recovery.
By integrating ManageEngine with Riverbed appliances, this new alliance provides solution providers with a lower cost alternative to manage these types of IT scenarios without having to rely on more expensive IT systems management frameworks.
